Green liner

Hey Lovelies ^_^

Here's a "simple" look I did with yellow/gold eyeshadow and green liner.

Products used:


Lancôme khôl pencil in black
Lancôme Oscillation mascara in black (love!)
Gosh e/s 238 applied all over lid up to crease
MAC golden Lemon pigment then applied over the Gosh shadow
Gosh velvet touch eyeliner 007 Alligator applied on lower lashline
Gosh extreme art eyeliner (liquid) #12 on upper lashline

MAC cutester l/s on lips

There was a 40% sale on all GOSH products last week at my local drugstore. LOL, can you guys tell? XD

Food from my recent China trip (img heavy)

So, my grandfather and I landed in Beijing in January to attend my sister graduation ceremony. Can't believe that she got her bachelors degree before me, but hey that ought to teach me a lesson not to jump from one study to another after 2 years. After the graduation we hopped on a plane to Jinan, Shandong which is where my grandfather was born. First time for my sister and me to see that place so it was exciting. We stayed in the city of Jinan although we did get to go for an entire day to the village on the countryside and saw my grandfathers parents grave.

Alright, from the beginning in Beijing:

Haha, believe it or not, this was my very first time trying Coldstone. I like the concept that you can choose whatever flavor you like and have it made in front of you. Very nice! It won't be the last time I try it. (another downside to living in Denmark, we have nothing here, NOTHING!)








Coco is from Japan and SUPER delicious. It was so good I completely forgot about pics so all I have from that lunch is this cheesy pic of me holding a wet towelette package. Japanese curry is not like Thai or Indian curry, it's less spicy and has a texture that reminds me a bit of gravy. I was hooked the first time I tried it :)




Ah, the three of us went to a place where they served Xiao long bao, small steamed dough-wrapped meat buns.





The first night we arrived in Jinan, we had dinner at...let me see if I can get this right... uh, my grandfathers sisters grandchildren who are aprox 10-20 years older than me. To my surprise, we were gonna have dumplings that night and boy they were good! First pic is all prepared and ready for boiling and second pic is when we were halfways through when I realized I forgot to take pictures.






Here are most of the dishes I remembered to document in Jinan:

Fenpi, a flat noodle made from green beans, very chewy in texture and lovely when accompanied with soup and other good things :)




Mmh.. I believe this is called sea cucumber...not sure but it's considered to be a delicacy in China.




On a street in Jinan here we decided to get a snack. Meat on a stick! Hahaha! This is an awesome snack, perfect for a carnivore like me!







So, we went to the countryside and had lunch there. Holy cow, meeting our "relatives" for the first time and they just wanted to stuff us with food.

These veggies/leaves are found in the wild. Served tempura style, dipped in batter and deepfried. Very clean and sharp taste. Delicious!




So, apparently they eat this around Chinese New Years, it's Tofu and the way it's pronouned means wealth...or something like that, can't remember....

Just a variety of different foods in the city of Jinan, I swear they want to fatten us up, otherwise they wouldn't know what to tell our parents!

Haha, this guy is in his late teen years/early twenties and he is supposed to call me and my sister for aunties (I suppose we are, since we're very distantly related (children of those grandkids of my grandfathers sister, confused yet?) but hey, I asked him and his cousin, same age too, to just call us by name. I felt so old all of a sudden)






























This was pretty cool. A fish deep fried so it stays in that shape. It's a Chinese thing to have fish at New Years. It looked pretty impressive!







So these are the famous HUGE leeks from Shandong. The taste is more sharp than regular leeks which is why my grandfather loves these.

The best deal ever!

In January I went to China with my grandfather for my sisters graduation ceremony and to the region where my grandfather was born. A very memorable trip with loads of pics that I'd love to share.

I haven't exactly finished sorting through all the pics from my recent trip but I did find some of the most important ones to post here: Food and shoe pics, haha!

There are waay too many to choose from so I thought I'd post a few assorted pics here for you guys to see. (More pics to come in a later entry)



This is when my sister, her friend and I went to a department store in BEIJING where I made the best deal (more on that later) on shoes. After all that shopping, a girl is BOUND to be tired, right? So we went downstairs to the food court and got something called "Mala guo" For those who don't speak Chinese this can be translated as darn spicy pot!

We tell the person helping us what kind of vegetables and meats we want. There are only two ways they'll prepare it for us: "spicy" or "VERY spicy". Not really knowing what that extra "very" indicated, we opted for just the spicy one. We walk around, trying to find a table and seats and when our number is called we can go collect the pot.

I tried it and let me just say that I sure was happy that we opted for the regular spicy as opposed to the VERY spicy version. Seriously, I thought I could take spicy food and although all three of us managed to finish it, I do remember thinking how grateful I was that it wasn't any spicier.

Now before the dinner we went to this shoe store and saw all the GORGEOUS shoes on display. I was a bit reluctant to go inside but my sister assured me that it would be "okay" sine they were having a sale. I picked up a shoe and almost choked when I saw the price tag. My cheeks started burning and I couldn't for the life of me stop my heart from going faster. I asked the sales assistant if this was for real and she just smiled and nodded and went on to explain that due to the financial crisis and the January sales, the prices were extremely low.

And whaddya know, normally I can never find shoes on sale here in Denmark because I'm aprox. the same size as all other European women, size 38, but in asia my feet are considered to be rather big (which is wonderful during sales) I was like a kid in a candy store and wanted to try them all! I finally managed to narrow it down to...7 pairs of shoes, well knowing I couldn't buy them all. So I "settled" for a gorgeous pair of Miu Miu boots and 5-6 pairs of Louboutin shoes. Not knowing which ones to let go. I looked at the SA and asked if it was possible to give discounts to a poor student like me, and she almost fell down laughing. She continued to wipe her tears and though the laughter and trembling she managed to say: no, we don't offer student discounts here but because you're so sweet and nice I'm gonna give you an additional 15% discount.

So the best part? I got it all, well the ones I really liked (4 pairs of Louboutin shoes and a pair of Miu miu boots) for the regular price of one pair of Louboutin. This was an offer I couldn't refuse and I pushed the thought of a very angry bank advisor to the back of my mind and thought I'd take it up with her when I got home. Deals like these don't come often I reasoned with myself, so I nodded and handed her my credit card.

I'm still here!

Woo... haven't had the energy or time to keep my blog. Maan, I feel so lazy, nowait, that's not right. I AM lazy! Sheesh, it's been a while and I'm not quite the social internet butterfly at the moment but I really hope that I can be again, once all these things in my life have settled.

Right now I feel like I have thousands of things to do and not enough time to do it in, *whew* anyone else experience this?

Anywhoodle I'm rambling, just got back from seeing my girls that I haven't seen in waay too long. Sitting here in front of my monitor although it's 2 am and I'm supposed to be at school at 9 tomorrow morning. But I just didn't feel like going to sleep just yet. Was looking at videos on youtube when I came across this classis. This song is to date one of the FEW songs that can get me on the dancefloor, GUARANTEED!

So take out a few minutes like me, sit back relax, do a little office chair dance if you like but most importantly, ENJOY!

Sunday is baking day... baking day... lalalalala!

Hello all!

I'm sorry I haven't been very social lately but I've been quite busy with school ad all, I hope you will forgive me.

As you might have guessed from the title, I had an afternoon of doing nothing so I decided to ... bake! If I had the means necessary I would jump on a plane and come feed every one of you (my readers) yes, that would be both of you! JK!

I started out with making a very delicious fondant au chocolat (for those who don't want to bother guessing, it would be chocolate fondant) XD I decided to use good ingredients and shelled out on Green and Black's Organic Trinitario 85% dark chocolate. (YUM!)



The result was great crispy on top and melty, chocolatey on the inside... *drool*

RECIPE:

200 grammes of dark chocolate
170 grammes of butter (room temperature)
100 grammes of sugar
70 grammes of wheat flour
5 eggs
(optional, extra chocolate to sprinkle on top after taking out of the oven)

Melt the chocolate and the butter in separate bowls.
In third bowl, mix eggs, sugar and flour.
Mix the butter and chocolate together and stir a bit.
Add to the egg/flour/sugar mix.

Put them in small muffin forms and put in oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes. Remember, the fondant should be gooey and chocolatey on the inside.

Eat!



As if that wasn't enough I decided to make apple muffins too. This was a different version of the ones I usually make but they turned out great.



RECIPE:

Turn on oven at 250 degrees Celsius

2 cups of flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp of cinnamon
1/2 cup of butter (room temperature)
1/2 cup of cane and white sugar (half-half)
2 eggs
1 cup of plain natural yoghurt (I used greek)
2 apples peeled, cored and coarsely chopped

Mix the dry ingredients together, sieve if you want. (flour, baking powder, cinnamon)

Whisk the butter, sugar and eggs well. Add the yoghurt and mix again.

Add the flour, mix and add the chopped apples.

Pour into muffin forms. Mix one tablespoon of cane sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl and stir with a spoon. Sprinkle on top of every muffin and place in mid-lower section of oven. Immediately turn down the heat to 175 degress Celsius and let bake for 30 minutes.

The middle is full of moist delicious apples!

EOTD

Hey Lovelies ^_^

Yeah, I know I'm not so creative with the headline this time but I don't know what to call it.

Here's a look I did earlier this evening combining pale pink, grey, deep purple and black. I kinda liked this color combo when I swatched it, maybe I should've used a little more time for the execution...oh well... one can never be satisfied.

On inner corners I applied the pale pink e/s
Grey e/s was then swept all over lid
Purple e/s in the crease and other corner as well as lower lashline
Black e/s on top of purple e/s at lower lashline and also lined upper lashline.

Dynamite surfing! And another cool ad...

This viral ad for Quicksilver was flourishing on the Internet about a year ago. It looks pretty awesome, because what do you do when you have a quiet lake and no waves? With the help of dynamite, the problem is solved of course!

Not a lot of people know this, but this ad was made by a Danish advertisement company on the lake called: Peblingesøen (Peblinge lake) that's situated in close to downtown Copenhagen.
